Extract of Dulse

Red algae

The Dulse (Palmaria palmata), is a seaweed rich in vitamins and minerals that brings moisture and vitality to the skin. It also has draining and anti-ageing properties for a radiant and visibly revitalised skin.

Exploitation

The algae is harvested by the company BioMolenez. Dulse grows below the mid-tide level on sites with strong currents.

The harvest is carried out at low tide by hand. Once harvested, the seaweed is macerated and filtered to obtain an extract containing a maximum of bioactive compounds. The red alga Palmaria forms dense clumps of up to 1 metre.

Mainly found in the cold coastal waters of the North Atlantic, especially in the coastal regions of Western Europe, such as the UK, France, Spain, Portugal and Ireland. It is also found in the coastal waters of North America, such as Canada and the USA. It is often found in the lower littoral stages, such as the lower intertidal and sublittoral, in areas exposed to waves and strong currents, such as rocks and stones. It is rarer in the coastal waters of the Mediterranean Sea. It prefers areas of high salinity and is often associated with areas of high waves.

Cosmetic properties

Moisturizing

Xylose and potassium will retain water on the surface of the skin to limit water loss. They form a protective film against environmental stimuli to limit irritation.

Draining

The components of the algae will stimulate the skin's microcirculation in order to limit the appearance of dark circles.

Antioxidant

The vitamins present in the algae neutralise the action of the free radicals responsible for oxidative stress.

Anti-aging

Vitamin C stimulates the production of collagen with a firming action and inhibits the production of melanin to limit the appearance of wrinkles and brown spots.
